What is it?Thermo-Auricular Therapy is also known as TaT or ‘Hopi Candle Therapy’. This ancient natural therapy has been handed down through the centuries from the ancient civilisations but it is the Native American Hopi Indians of North Arizona and their practice of ear candle treatment which has reached the rest of the world.Hopi means 'peaceful people, people of peace'. The Hopi people are rapidly gaining respect for their extensive knowledge and great spirituality. They craft the candles used for this treatment from natural organic ingredients, mainly flax, honey, beeswax, sage, chamomile, St Johns Wort, and beta carotene with added essential and herbal oils. The candles are hollow and do not have a wick. A treatment lasts approx 1hr which includes prior consultation and time to relax afterwards. The client remains clothed but covered with a blanket and lay on their side on the couch. The candle is lit and held securely in place at all times by the therapist, it is gently inserted into the ear where a moderate suction action is created, lightly manipulating the tympanic membrane. Because the treatment is able to stimulate the ear, nose and throat, all the sinuses can be relieved over a series of treatments. Benefits of this treatment?A Hopi treatment releases congestion in all these areas and leaves the client with a feeling of tranquillity, composure and mental clarity. Physical and psychological benefits includes relief of the following:
The treatment is suitable and beneficial for every age group from babies as young as 4 months. The benefits of a Hopi treatment are often instant but the healing properties continue to increase in strength for several days afterwards. A course of 6 treatments is recommended with a follow-up maintenance plan to suit the client. Please contact us for enquiries or to book. |
