Reflexology

The oldest documentation of Reflexology is inscribed on a tomb drawing of an ancient Egyptian Physician of Saqqara and dated 2330-2500BC. In Reflexology the term ‘Reflex’ means Reflection. The feet and hands mirror the image of the body, reflecting the whole organism. Reflexology is an acupressure therapy of the feet.Reflexology benefits include:

Stress reduction Preventative healthcar

Improves circulation Cleanses the body of toxins

Balance the whole system Revitalizes energy

Nurtures relationships

During a treatment, the sensitive trained hands of the practitioner can detect tiny deposits and tensions in the feet through acupressure which block vital energy pathways, resulting in illness. By releasing these tiny obstructions toxins are eliminated and the circulation improved, restoring the free flow energy and nutrients to the body’s cells.

The client remains clothed but bare foot for the treatment. Reflexology suitable for any age from as young as small babes ( a much gentler treatment).

There may be some slight discomfort during the treatment but it is fleeting and is a result of illness or damage to a part of the body. After the first treatment or two your body may respond in a definite way: A feeling of wellbeing and relaxation or you may feel lethargic, nauseous or tearful. All these are temporary and generally last 2-3 days as the toxins are released via the elimination routes. Drinking plenty of water speeds up this process of elimination. A re-assessment is taken at the onset of every treatment so it is important to report any contra-actions to your practitioner at each visit.

Treatments are according to bodily needs but a course of 6-8 is recommended at the onset to bring the body to a state of HOMEOSTASIS- a state of equilibrium or balance and good working order, followed by a maintenance plan of every 6-8 weeks thereafter.
